Research Assistant Professor (non-tenure)
The Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a full-time, Research Assistant Professor appointment-stream faculty position in the Division of Experimental and Translational Pathology. We are seeking an innovative researcher who will be responsible for overseeing the current and future efforts of the Principal Investigator's research program investigating the mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of chronic liver diseases. The successful candidate is expected to have extensive experience in conducting animal and clinical research and writing manuscripts.
Responsibilities for this position include overseeing completion of several independent research projects, writing manuscripts, collaborating on interdisciplinary projects, providing assistance in writing research proposals, and mentoring postdoctoral fellows and students. The incumbent will be responsible for managing rodent colonies, writing IACUC protocols, planning and executing various animal experiments, designing and performing molecular biology experiments, optimizing experimental protocols and methods for data analysis, performing histological and immunohistochemical analysis on human and animal tissues, conducting immunological assays on mouse and human samples, performing confocal microscopy, developing new technology and methodology, and training laboratory personnel.
Qualifications for this role include a Ph.D. in Pathology with a strong publication record, research experience, ability to work independently with minimal supervision from the Principal Investigator, and a commitment to teaching and mentorship. The ideal candidate must also possess effective communication skills, attention to detail, and excellent organizational abilities.
